Review: The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley

Dissecting this wonderfully fantastic novel would take away its magic. But I will say this: The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie is a mystery novel that is cleverly plotted and intelligently written. The story is told through the point of view of a precocious eleven-year-old sleuth, who is already an accomplished chemist and escape artist. Set in a 1950’s English village, Alan Bradley has created unforgettable characters and masterfully weaved a marvelous story that is as delicious as pie.

It was a delightful read and I enjoyed it immensely.

This was a post by Hanna, who wants a slice of chocolate cream pie.
